Olympic Champion Helen Maroulis Joins Wrestling to Beat the Streets DC Board of Directors

Washington, D.C.- Wrestling to Beat the Streets DC announced today the appointment of Helen Maroulis, 2016 Olympic Champion, to their Board of Directors. The non-profit organization provides youth development opportunities to underserved children in the Washington DC region through the sport of wrestling.

“Wrestling is a special and unique sport accessible to student-athletes of all ages, backgrounds, and genders that has given me many positive benefits and life experiences, both on and off the mat,” said Maroulis. “I look forward to contributing to the mission of Wrestling to Beat the Streets DC to bring those same benefits to the youth of Washington DC.”

Maroulis won the first Olympic gold medal for the United States in a women's wrestling event at the 2016 Olympic Games. She is also a 2015 World Champion, 2013 Bronze Medalist, 2012 Silver Medalist, 3 time Junior World Medalist, 2013 & 2015 World Cup Champion, 2011 Pan Am Games Champion, 6 time US Champion, and 4-time WCWA Women’s College National Champion.

“I grew up in the Washington DC area and am excited and honored to have the opportunity to give back to the community I grew up in,” said Maroulis.

Together, we will continue our ongoing efforts to improve the  lives of underserved youth in Washington, DC."
