Wrestling to Beat the Streets DC Appoints Three New Board Members

WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 19, 2020) – Wrestling to Beat the Streets DC (BTS DC) is pleased to announce three new members to the Board of Directors, Kevin Beverly, Reed Landry, and Edward Smith.

Kevin Beverly is the President & CEO of Social & Scientific Systems. His strength and experience in leadership, operations, strategic planning, project management, and sales and marketing will contribute to BTS DC’s continued growth. In addition to founding the Mildred Beverly Memorial Family Fund, which provides college scholarships for underprivileged youth in Dorchester County, Maryland, Mr. Beverly serves on the boards of the Professional Services Council (PSC), The Universities at Shady Grove, the Community Foundation of Montgomery County, Maryland, and is the board chair of CollegeTracks and the Bethesda-Chevy Chase YMCA. 

Reed Landry is the Managing Partner of Mission Group, a hospitality company that owns and operates large-format bar and restaurant concepts in Washington, DC, including Mission Dupont, Hawthorne, Mission Navy Yard and The Admiral. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia, where he was a member of the varsity wrestling team. Reed remained active in the sport after college, working as a wrestling official for 12 years. Reed has served as President of the Potomac School Alumni Governing Council and currently sits on the school's Board of Trustees.

Edward "Smitty" Smith is the Deputy Managing Partner at the Washington DC office of DLA Piper, with a practice focusing on telecommunications matters. He has served in Mayor Muriel Bowser's administration as the Director of Victim Services and Justice Grants, working to support victims of violent crimes as well as to improve justice outcomes in the juvenile and adult criminal justice systems. As a high school wrestler at The Potomac School, Smitty was a state runner-up and national prep all-American. He earned his bachelor's degree from Brown University, where he was captain of the track team and received his law degree from Harvard University.
